* Saturday, May 11th, 2024: 10am - 1pm

Level: Beginner 2/Intermediate

PREREQUISITE NOTE: We recommend at least one of our Foundation courses be taken before signing up for our more intermediate/advanced courses, such as Intro to Blowing Glass on a Torch, Intro to Sculpting Glass on a Torch, and any of our classes in the Vessels Series. We require each student to have some familiarity with glass before signing up for these workshops.

In this class, students will be working with borosilicate glass learning the basics of blowing glass on a torch. We will blow glass off the end of a tube, and also discuss “pulling points” from larger tubes. We will then put a hook on or flatten the bottom on the various hollow forms that we blow to create our very own ornaments and small vessels. The time will be spent with demos and practicing to hone your newfound skills. Plan to have a lot of fun, learn a lot, break some glass, and make some beautiful one-of-a-kind hollow forms.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT CLASS: If you do decide to register, you’ll need to know/bring the following:

* A pair of UV-protected sunglasses

* Tie your hair back if it’s long

* Wear comfortable, cotton clothing (synthetics are flammable) and closed-toe shoes

* Bring a bottle of water

NEW COVID POLICIES: As a general rule of thumb, please do not come to class if you know you are sick or running a fever.

PICKING UP YOUR WORK: Glass needs to cool properly so there’s a 24 hour wait time for pick up. Any work left at the studio after 30 days will be considered abandoned. For the sake of keeping our small studio spacious and organized, abandoned items will be discarded appropriately.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Tuition IS refundable up to 24 hours before the scheduled class date…at which time the entire amount becomes NON-REFUNDABLE. Please make note of this.
