Micro-Bots: Introduction to Millefiori and Murrine with Nathan Middleton

from 250.00

DATES: Friday, May 17th - Sunday, May 19th, 2019

ARTIST RECEPTION: Thursday, May 16th, 6pm - 9pm

Ever wonder how Nathan Middleton does what he does??!

Nathan’s first ever formal class! Let’s give him a warm welcome in the Big Easy. In this 3-day class we will learn the secrets behind Nathan’s amazing compositions made from glass. He wants to make a robot murrine, so we shall make robots! It will be comprised of components made by the entire class. He will cover making components and pulling them down. Then assembling smaller components into a larger murrine that can be sliced into coins “like a loaf of bread”. This class is appropriate for someone with intermediate-level glass experience and who wants an introduction to the process of making their own murrine.

Class is from 10am - 5pm each day. Lunch will be provided.

Total cost of the workshop is $600.00 per person. A $250.00 deposit is required to secure your spot. Please note that $175.00 of the tuition is non-refundable.

A little about Nathan…

Nathan Middleton has been a main player in the murrine game since the late 90’s. Known for his attention to detail, his images go beyond flowers and cartoons. He sets the bar for what’s expected from high-end murrine today. Weeks of prep work goes into each masterpiece- from color mixing to sizing, everything will be just right before he begins building.

Nathan learned to blow glass in the mountains of beautiful Humboldt County, California. Since then he has worked to perfect his craft; studying with glass masters like Loren Stump and Ryan Teurfs and doing collaboration projects with a variety of artists.
